Basically the cost of a timber floor is made up of
- The preparation of the floor
- The cost of the Timber flooring
- The installation of the timber flooring
- The type of finish you choose
- The application of the finish
The preparation costs about $10 per metre if the only prep is the laying down of a moisture barrier. If you go to the website http://www.timberflooringinfo.com.au you will find out some more info. I am possibly the best installer in Perth and I will do the moisture barrier for free if the job is big enough.
The Timber flooring costs about $50 per metre depending on the timber and the grade. It is possibly best to allow $50 per metre
The installation cost of the timber floor also varies depending on the hardness of the job. If there is more doorways and rooms then the price will be more. I suggest you allow about $40 per metre.
The finish can vary from $10 to $20 per metre and I suggest you allow about $15 per metre
The finish is applied by first sanding the floor and then applying the coating. This will cost around $35 per metre. (floor sanding is only needed on timber floors that are not pre-finished.)
This all adds up to about $140 per square metre. The only exact way to get a price is to ring me and I will come around and do a measure and quote for you.
